Rainbow Opal (ABN 46 673 455 745) uses cookies and similar storage technologies to operate our marketplace. This page explains what cookies we set, why we set them, and how you can control them. It complements our Privacy Policy.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, improve their performance, and provide information to the site owner. Similar technologies — like browser local storage and session storage — perform comparable functions and we treat them the same way for the purposes of this policy.
2. Categories We Use
We group cookies into the following categories. Today, Rainbow Opal sets only strictly necessary and functional cookies — we do not run analytics or advertising trackers.
Strictly necessary
Required for the site to function. These cookies cannot be turned off without breaking core features like signing in or completing a purchase. We do not require consent for these under GDPR, ePrivacy, or the Australian Privacy Act.
- Authentication tokens (set by Supabase) — keep you signed in across page loads. Typically last up to 1 hour and refresh automatically while you're active. Removed on sign-out.
- Anonymous cart (browser local storage) — remembers items in your cart before you sign in. Persists until you clear browser storage or sign in (at which point items are merged into your account).
Functional (payment)
Set by our payment providers when you reach the checkout step. They help detect fraud and complete the transaction. We do not control these cookies — they are governed by the providers' own privacy notices, linked below.

Analytics
None today. We do not currently run Google Analytics, Plausible, PostHog, or similar tools. If we introduce analytics in the future, we will update this page and ask for your consent before any analytics cookies are set.
Advertising
None. Rainbow Opal does not run advertising or retargeting cookies, and we do not share data with ad networks.
3. How to Control Cookies
Most browsers let you view, manage, and delete cookies. You can usually find these controls in your browser's settings or preferences menu, often under headings like "Privacy", "Privacy and Security", or "Cookies and site data". You can also use private or incognito browsing modes, which discard cookies when you close the window.
Please note: blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in or completing a purchase. Blocking payment-provider cookies may cause Stripe or PayPal checkout to fail.
4. Consent for EU and UK Visitors
If you are visiting from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the GDPR and ePrivacy Directive give you the right to opt in to non-essential cookies before they are set. Today Rainbow Opal sets only strictly necessary and payment-functional cookies, both of which qualify as essential for delivering the service you requested (signing in, completing a purchase). We will introduce a cookie consent banner before adding any non-essential cookies, such as analytics.
5. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, our use of cookies, or legal obligations. When we make material changes — for example, introducing analytics — we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where required, ask for your consent before the new cookies are set.
